Corvettes being recalled

[ 0 ] May 4, 2010 | Rick Gideon

Approximately 40,000 Corvettes produced between 2004 and 2006 (2005/2006 model years) are being recalled for an issue with the steering column. In vehicles with tilt and telescoping columns repeated movement of the steering column could result in a wiring signal interruption. This interruption can trigger the message “Service active handling system” and one or more of the brakes may be applied to correct this erroneous error causing the vehicle to pull to the left or right. If appropriate conditions or driver reaction are not met, a collision could result.

GM will be notifying customers and performing corrective work free of charge. Owners can contact Chevrolet at 800-630-2438 or www.gmownercenter.com if they should have concerns about this recall or to see if their vehicle is affected.
