GM to keep plants open, hire temp workers

[ 0 ] June 18, 2010 | Rick Gideon

Nine out of eleven General Motors plants won’t go idle this summer as they typically do. Customer demand is high enough to warrant keeping vehicles churning off the assembly line.

Working to decrease customer wait times for high demand models is what is driving this move which typically idles plants for a two week period during summer months to work on retooling for model changes for next year. GM will hire temporary workers so that their employees can take vacations during this time.
