Super powers design charity Mustang after SR-71
To help support the Young Eagles program of the EAA AirVenture, Ford has donated a one-off Mustang for the association to auction for the past couple years. This years Mustang will be inspired by an SR-71 Blackbird and should bring a hefty sum, likely to exceed the half and quarter-million price tags of the past two years.
While the inspiration for this car sounds interesting, it’s who is involved that will push the dollar mark towards big time. Obviously Ford will be involved, but they’ll also have Carroll Shelby on board as well as Jack Roush. That’s right, Shelby AND Roush collaborating on the same vehicle. This is like a Mustang fans dream team.
This one-off will be based on a 2011 Mustang GT and will sport black and grey matte styling, with custom SVT wheels, performance upgrades, a supercharger and both Shelby and Roush’s signatures embroidered in custom Recaro seats. The auction will be held on July 29 and go to the highest bidder. We’ll make a prediction that this Mustang will bring in over 1.2 million dollars.
