9-speed automatic in the works?
Word on the street is that even though it took forever for 6-speed transmissions to become found in more than a small exclusive club of cars that Mercedes Benz is now working on a 9-speed transmission.
While we’ve grown accustomed to 6, 7, or 8 speed transmissions in the marketplace now due to manufacturers striving for ultimate fuel economy you really have to wonder where the madness is going to end. The word of a 9-speed transmission just reinforces this fact. So if, indeed, this 9 speed slushbox does materialize, we will sit and wait for the newest 10 or 11 speed tranny to be touted,
