Honda recalls almost 400,000 due to bad ignition interlock

[ 0 ] August 10, 2010 |

The ignition interlock on a vehicle ensures the vehicle is in the park position before the key can be removed to be sure that you don’t depart your vehicle and have it roll away on you. Well, apparently the ignition interlock in some 2003 and 2004 Honda Civics, Accords, and Elements can wear out prematurely which can allow the key to be removed from the ignition in any shifter selection.

Honda dealers will replace the worn parts for free and owners will be contacted by Honda with further instructions prior to September 29, 2010. Concerned owners may contact Honda at 800-999-1009 and reference Safety Recall # R44.
