GM asks Chevy dealers to buy competitors models for Cruze comparison

[ 0 ] September 6, 2010 |

In a move to win over prospective buyers, GM has asked Chevy dealers to purchase a Toyota Corolla and a Honda Civic so shoppers can compare Chevy’s new mid-size sedan, the Cruze, right there on site with the competition.

Sounds like an odd request, but if you think about it – it is quite brilliant. Keep the consumers on your lot, don’t let them go talk to the competitions sales people or get wooed away.

The Cruze may just be GM’s cash cow for 2010, so it is important that they launch their new brand the right way and this new way of thinking may just prove to be in their favor, if they can attract consumers who would be more likely to buy a Honda or Toyota in the first place to pay their dealers a visit.
