Shelby rolls out a prototype GT500

Shelby has rolled back the sheet on their new prototype GT500 coined “Code red.” This particular prototype was a joint venture between Shelby American and Nelson Racing Engines. Featuring a 5.4L v8 with twin Turbonetics turbochargers and an improved fuel system and electronic boost controller this monster tips the 1000+ horsepower mark.

If Shelby does end up offering the “code red” out of their stable it will most likely have all the gear on it to ride comfortably and also have plenty of whoa to go with all that go. It is estimated that the package would go for around $100,000.

Now we’ve just got to wonder why they’re sticking with the now antiquated 5.4L and haven’t moved onto the new 5.0L for even more potential power.
