Generation III HEMI 426 crate motor starts production
Not ignoring their past, Chrysler has put the wheels in motion on a new 426 HEMI crate motor to ensure those motorsports junkies out there will have plenty of choice when they choose to go with a reliable and storied powerplant.
The new generation III HEMI 426 crate motor features an all-aluminum block and heads and comes with a rating of 540 horsepower and 530 ft-lbs of torque. The list price on this elephant is $13,675. Obviously with some of the newer “small-block” engines out there making almost this much horsepower with some lightly forced induction, we’re a little disappointed with the numbers but are confident that with some changes the 426 is capable of producing much more horsepower than the crate motor suggests.
