E15 hits more roadblocks
A couple weeks we reported on the EPA’s approval of E15 and the associated warnings with its use; 2001 and newer, no small engines, motorcycles, etc. Well now it has come out that even with the approval of E15 it won’t be at a pump near you any time soon.
The Government Accountability Office is saying that it is unlikely to show up anywhere for at least a year due to safety, health, and environmental concerns. Not only that but with all the stringent requirements warning which engines E15 can and cannot be used in brings to light that underground storage tanks and fuel dispensing equipment (pumps, nozzles, hoses, etc) will all need to be tested for compatibility with E15.
This all sounds like a very pricey proposition in an economically stressed time when E15 really isn’t something that is needed or required. Time to re-think this one!
