Mercedes Benz is killing off Maybach
It has been reported that Mercedes Benz will be shutting down Maybach sometime in 2013. Mercedes tried to resurrect the Maybach brand in 2002 in efforts to compete with Bentley and Rolls-Royce product lines. However, Mercedes could never reach the sales goals they set for the Maybach line.
The remaining slated model 57 and 62′s will be produced through the end of 2013. 2014 was supposed to be a revamp of the Maybach product line but it looks as if Mercedes will replace the upper luxury brand with specific S Class models re-tooled to fit the upper luxury motif. No formal comment from Mercedes Benz or Mercedes Benz USA has been announced at this time.
