The NEON is back! Er… Behold! The Dodge Dart!
Well here it is. After a lot of teaser images, hype and speculation the new Dodge Dart was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show. And personally I find it a bit underwhelming to say the least.
Yes it has an all digital TFT display instead of analog guages. Yes it has a LOT of trim in the interior. However, I just can’t help feel… well… let down. I look at the new Dart and all I can see is a revamped Neon with some tech and styling goodies thrown in. Yes, I realize it is half alpha, but it certainly isn’t the design half. The new Dart is plain… very very plain despite the digital display and interior trim. The Dart is to be available with either a 2.0L inline four cylinder producing 160 HP, a 2.4L inline four cylinder with 184 HP, or a 1.4L turbo charged four cylinder with 160 HP. Its base price is supposed to be somewhere around $15,500.00. We will have to see what hands on road tests yield, but I just can’t welcome this as a retro classic reborn. Sometimes there is more to a name than fancy interior trim.
