Ford’s Special Vehicle Team turns 20 and still plays with toys

[ 0 ] February 9, 2012 |

It is truly hard to believe that the SVT division at Ford is now 20 years old. It seems like it was only yesterday when the 1993 SVT Cobra and SVT Cobra R were announced and then hitting the streets in all their road melting glory.

A lot of things have changed over the past 20 years. Environmental regulations, gas prices, auto bailouts and a world wide economic meltdown just to name a few. Despite all that, the folks associated with the SVT logo have managed to deliver time and time again. From the 1993 Cobras to the just revealed 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 and SVT Raptor, they have designed and built vehicles to adhere to their performance vision while keeping the consumer’s concerns with the world around them in mind. Hopefully the SVT masterminds will continue to push the envelope for another 20 years and bring us a lot of fun along the way.
