It’s really hard to believe that it has already been ten years since the new mini hit the shores here in the states. The retro car rebirth was on the horizon and the automotive market in general was very cookie cutter at the time. Many thought BMW’s attempt to bring the Mini to the US would end horribly.
However, ten years and very consistent strong sales figures later, the Mini is here to stay. Mini USA’s vice president Jim McDowell had this to say: “Mini launched in the U.S. during the time when gas was cheap and large trucks and SUVs ruled the road, Many thought the brand would be a one-hit wonder, and we are extremely proud that we were able to surprise some the toughest critics, and at times, even ourselves.”
With the retro sport car revolution in full swing it’s nice to see all ends of the spectrum sticking around for the fight!
