[ 0 ] June 5, 2012 |

Some very good news for you endurance race fans. The American Le Mans Series is adding a new race to their schedule in 2013, this time in Austin, Texas. The last time ALMS had an event in the Lone Star State was 2007 in Houston.

The event will be held at the Circuit of the America’s course in Austin. The track is currently undergoing it’s final stages of construction, and will be hosting a Formula One race in November. ALMS President and CEO Scott Atherton said: “The opportunity to partner with the Circuit of The Americas and bring North America’s premier sports car racing series to fans across Texas, at what is going to be one of the finest road-racing facilities in the world, is a natural fit for all involved. The addition of Circuit of the Americas to our schedule will be very well-received by our fans and stakeholders alike. We know we have a lot of ALMS fans in Texas, and for our teams, manufacturers and sponsors, Austin and the surrounding region represent an important new business market.” That is very refreshing news to hear, especially from this Texan who is dying to see a larger selection of races in my back yard!
