German Tuners Geiger Cars Amp up a Shelby GT500 to 799 BHP
Based in Germany but having a strong love for American cars, Geiger Cars have just pumped up this Shelby GT500 to nearly 800 bhp. When work first began on this Shelby it had 397 kW/533 bhp but after they got a hold of it and worked some magic they got it up to an amazing 596 kW / 799 bhp! The car now tops out at 220 mph, the sprint times have yet to be announced but I am sure once the rubber gets a grip it will be nothing short of a blast off.
Sporting a 5.4-litre V8 engine the torque was increased to 697 lb-ft. Now for how the magic happened. Better air flow, new cylinder heads, more coolers, bigger throttle valves and of course a upgraded fuel injection was added. Most of the power increase come from the introduction of a 3.3-litre compressor which puts out a 1.6 bar pressure.
Naturally when a cars power is increased the transmission, clutch and breaks need a face lift as well. A three-disc carbon clutch was added as well as large 380 mm drilled brake discs along with six-piston calipers. The transmission was also given a treatment to better handle the increased horsepower. Wheels and tires weren’t left out, 20 inch OZ alloys were added and they are wrapped in Michelin high performance tires.
Pricing and availability should be announced shortly.
