Iowa farmer Thomas Krumm went to his local Ford dealer to order a Mustang GT convertible and unwittingly ordered a piece of history – his Mustang is the 9 millionth built by Ford Motor Company. He discovers that today when he picks up his milestone Mustang at Gookin Ford in Story City, Iowa. Krumm, a farmer from rural Story City, became interested in Mustangs through his daughter, Rachael, a Mustang enthusiast who saved enough money to buy her first Mustang at age 17.

For performance enthusiasts, the new 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR’s driving dynamics should be as big of an eye-opener as its acceleration, torque, horsepower and stopping performance. The new model features an array of enhancements designed to give it the same poised and predictable handling at 120 mph as it has at 60 mph, according to the performance engineering team at Ford SVT in collaboration with Shelby Automobiles. The team has created the fastest production Mustang ever. This Mustang can take curves at speed.
When it was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s power was estimated at 100 horsepower for each of its 6.2 liters of displacement. GM Powertrain has completed SAE certification of the ZR1’s supercharged LS9 V-8 and the results exceed the estimate: 638 horsepower (476 kW) and 604 lb.-ft. of torque (819 Nm).

Earlier this year in Florida, YouTube's nottasrt4 spotted a Nissan 350Z with a "modified K&M Supercharger" in the wild. With camcorder in hand, he recorded a mini-documentary of what he saw. Upon catching up with the youthful driver of the 350Z a second time at a stop light, nottasrt4 rolled his window down and got an exclusive interview with the driver, revealing the true power of this sweet ride with 422 HP at the rear wheels. The driver claims his K&M blower runs at 14 PSI, his chipped 3.5L has stainless-steel twin cold air intakes, and rocks a stock exhaust which actually gets "better horsepower with the stock". To compliment the 1,000 2008 40th anniversary Edition Shelby GT500KR “King of the Road” Mustangs, Ford and Shelby Automobiles announce that an additional 746 units will be built for the 2009 model year to help meet worldwide demand of the supercar. Of that total, 571 units will be available for U.S. customers thus equaling the 1,571-unit production run of the original Shelby GT500KR.

The new Roush Vent Gauge Pod is cleverly designed to integrate in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) vent of any 2005-2008 Ford Mustang (including the Shelby GT500) or 2004-2008 Ford F-150 truck. Installation is simple - just remove the HVAC air louvers by gently pulling outwards to remove. The ROUSH Vent Gauge Pod then replaces these louvers with no cutting, drilling, or trimming required. Installation time is just minutes.
Apparently Valvoline recently commissioned "The Great American Pony Car Shootout" which pitted a ROUSH 427RTM against a Saleen S281. The cars were put through a full battery of tests, including 0-100-0 mph to check acceleration and braking, a slalom course, and hot laps around Thunder Hill Raceway. The two Mustangs came from the showroom at Grand Prairie Ford in Texas.

Edmunds.com were lucky enough to place a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 through several tests, pushing the new muscle car to its limits through its "modern execution". "Think zero to 60 mph in the low 5-second range and a standing quarter in the mid-13s. A better measure of performance, according to chief engineer Helbig, is the 0-100-0-mph test, in which he predicts the Challenger SRT8 will run high 16s. Not bad for a 4,200-pound car." Dave Ressler is one happy man as of this past weekend, after stealing the winning bid for the worlds first production Corvette ZR1 at a solid $1,000,000. As with other auctions, all the proceeds were given to The United Way foundation. Armed with a Supercharged LS9 Small-Block V-8, this first production, one of one Le Mans blue version is one clean muscle car. When it arrives next summer, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will be the most powerful and fastest production car ever produced by General Motors, with performance enabled by a new, supercharged 6.2L LS9 small-block V-8 engine. Incorporating the engineering experience already found in the Corvette Z06’a LS7 engine and the new-for-2008 6.2L LS3 of the Corvette, GM Powertain is targeting 100 horsepower per liter for the LS9, or 620 horsepower (462 kW), and approximately 595 lb.-ft. of torque (807 Nm); final SAE-certified power levels will be available in early March 2008.
The Detroit News captured a new picture of the 2009 Camaro in the land down under, Australia. The Car Connection have released their review on the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR edition muscle car that has been injected with venom for it's 2008 debut. Dubbed ACR for "American Club Racer", the 8.4-liter V-10 engine packs a gnarly 600 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque, combined with a T-56 six-speed manual transmission. The new ACR version is expected to arrive in showrooms during the second quarter of next year with an MSRP of under $100,000, which is not bad in comparison to the competition.

Production will start in the spring of 2008, and the Challenger will go on sale shortly afterwards as a 2008 model. Pricing is expected to start around $31,000, although it's rumored that the R/T models have all been pre-sold in the 50K range. A convertible is also expected. The official debut of the (production) Challenger will be on February 6, 2008, at the Chicago Auto Show, just 222 days away.
