On Monday night's episode of Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Conan shocked guest star Jackie Chan by presenting Mr. Chan with Late Night's own stunt of integrating the new KITT LED light scanner into Conan's desk! I don't know if you noticed, but I think the stunt backfired on Conan. The audience was mesmerized by the light scanner throughout the show and was very quiet. Or maybe the guests were boring? Maybe it hypnotized everyone, or maybe it was just too distracting? Either way, it was a very cool desk mod and I was blown away. I hope he keeps using his new "Late Knight Rider"!
This makes sense, though, because one of the KITT cars used only for external shots went from the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) in Detroit last month to New York for appearances. I just find it a bit bothersome that they would have taken the time to remove the light scanner from KITT just for Conan's show! Now if you've read along this far and believed me, then my bad acting was just as convincing as the villains' bad acting in Sunday night's Knight Rider movie (which you can watch now, in its entirety, by clicking that link!) I do have a story here, believe it or not. Pierre Hoffmann from Auto Indulgence (who helped us with this exclusive article) called me on Monday to let me know that Conan's special effects guy found out about the light scanner from our own Muscle Car Blog article. He got a hold of Pierre by phone to try to obtain the light scanner to add into Conan's desk. They are considering several options at this time, including a TV monitor to achieve the same effect.
So while the first half of this story was a bunch of crap, the second half wasn't! Look for Conan's desk to light up soon in honor of the new Knight Rider light scanner! Thanks, Jason, for the awesome Photoshop job!
