Bloomington Gold, the nation’s oldest and most innovative continuously running Corvette show has confirmed the schedule for its 2008 event, set for June 26 – 29 2008, on the beautiful 250-acre grounds of Pheasant Run Resort in historic St. Charles, Illinois.
Now more than 35 years old, Bloomington Gold offers something for Corvette enthusiasts of every type, from budding car fans to absolute purists. Activities include world-renowned judging and certification, swap meets, educational programs focusing on restoration and preservation, auctions and private sales, as well as road tours and club gatherings, all focused on the grand heritage of the Corvette.
Presented in a fun and family-oriented environment, this entertaining event offers the broadest scope of any Corvette show in America. A full array of Corvettes will be on display throughout the event, from recently unearthed barn finds and basket cases, to museum-quality Benchmark® Certified show vehicles.
In an effort to help the latest Corvette fans become more aware of the high-powered heritage of their C4, C5, or C6 Corvette, this year’s event will honor a Special Collection of extraordinary high-performance 1967, ’68, and ‘69 L88 Corvettes. This year Bloomington Gold celebrates the 20th anniversary of its original “Earthquake ’88” event and promises to display the largest collection of 560-horsepower hand-built “homologation special” Corvettes ever assembled. Only 216 of these legendary vehicles were built, making them among the rarest Corvettes ever produced.
Branching out from its Corvette roots, in 2008 Bloomington Gold will launch a new Survivor® show that welcomes ALL brands, on Sunday, June 29.
For the first time at any automotive event, Bloomington Gold will extend an open invitation to all owners who believe they own an unrestored original vehicle of any brand. In 2008, the All-Brands Survivor® Show will be non-judged, however, judging will begin in succeeding years.
Bloomington Gold will begin the process of educating owners on the Survivor Certification process over the next two years. Examples of unrestored cars will be available for inspection so enthusiasts can learn the earmarks and differences between Benchmark and Survivor certified vehicles, helping them identify modifications and alterations that could affect a car’s Survivor status. These examples will be from GM, Ford, Mopar, as well as sports cars and imports. Additionally, people who believe they have extensive knowledge of a specific brand can learn about the Survivor Certification judging process, and how judges will be chosen for future shows. After these introductory steps, Bloomington Gold hopes to expand its full Survivor Certified judging program to ALL brands by 2010.
Additional information including online registration can be found at http://www.bloomingtongold.com. Travelers can make arrangements to stay at the Pheasant Run resort or at one of nearly 20 local affiliated hotels.
