The Detroit News is reporting that Chrysler LLC has announced the consideration of a sale of their Dodge Viper sports car, hiring a financial consultant to review the vehicle and its profits. Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli said "We have been approached by third parties who are interested in exploring future possibilities for Viper" and "We have agreed to listen to these parties. We will do so keeping in mind the best interests of those who have shown tremendous support for the vehicle -- including employees, suppliers, dealers and a worldwide group of loyal Viper owners and enthusiasts". Sales of the Viper muscle machine were up 111 percent through July but sales since then have slowly declined. A total of 682 vehicles were sold in the first months of 2008, in comparison to the 150,000 Dodge Ram pickup trucks that were sold during the same period leading to the "future possibilities for Viper". We shall see.
